Michael Hess is a writer and filmmaker who lives in Toronto.  He has regularly published in international and national journals such as The Malahat Review, Post Road, Grain, The Dalhousie Review, The Big Muddy, Shenandoah and Glitterwolf, among others.  His work has appeared in three anthologies; most recently, his essay “What Do You Wear to a Nudist Colony?” was included in The Best Gay Stories 2016 (Lethe Press).  He has twice been a finalist for The Iowa Review Awards in the nonfiction category.  His films have played at the NYU Director’s Series, NewFest, the Kansas International Film Festival, and in a curated program at the American Cinemateque in Los Angeles.  Recently, he produced a 12-part video-essay series, “On the Trail,” for, where he reflects on natural and man-made landscapes.  For more information, check out his website:
